Overview:

A small, eye-catching semi-terrestrial crab known for its purple body and glowing yellow eyes. Best kept in a humid paludarium with plenty of land.

Care Level: Moderate

Temperament: Semi-aggressive (territorial, especially males)

Size: 2–2.5 inches

Lifespan: 2–3 years

Tank Requirements:

Minimum 10 gallons for a small group

Paludarium setup (70–80% land, 20–30% shallow water)

High humidity (70–90%)

Lots of cover (moss, caves, driftwood, leaf litter)

Tight lid—they are excellent climbers

Water Parameters:

Temperature: 72–82°F

pH: 6.5–7.5

Shallow, clean freshwater only

Diet:

Omnivore—pellets, algae wafers, fruits, veggies, insects, frozen foods

Needs calcium for proper molting

Tank Mates:

Best kept species-only

May attack or eat small tank mates

Notes:

Mostly land-dwelling—can drown in deep water

Nocturnal and shy at first

Will hide during molts—provide safe hiding spots

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
