The Maylandia estherae, commonly known as the Red Zebra Cichlid, is a vibrant Mbuna species native to Lake Malawi. Despite the name “red,” these fish are most commonly seen in bright orange or orange-red coloration, making them one of the most popular African cichlids in the aquarium hobby.

Red Zebra Cichlids are hardy, active fish that thrive in rocky aquariums with plenty of hiding places. They are known for their bold personalities and are best kept with other African cichlids that can handle their semi-aggressive temperament.

• Temperament: Semi-aggressive
• Diet: Omnivore (spirulina flakes, cichlid pellets, vegetable matter)
• Temperature: 75–80°F
• pH: 7.8–8.6
• Minimum Tank Size: 55 gallons
• Adult Size: 4–5 inches

• Strong filtration and water movement
• Best kept with other Mbuna from Lake Malaw

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
