Red Scat

Red Scat (also called Ruby Scat or Red Tiger Scat) is a color variant of the Scat fish known for its reddish-orange to copper tones combined with darker markings.

Quick definition:
• Scientific name: Scatophagus argus
• Juveniles often show red/orange highlights with darker bands or spots
• Color intensity can vary by diet, lighting, and water conditions
• Adult size: 10–15 inches

Key traits:
• Very active, strong swimmer
• Semi-aggressive, especially as it grows
• Omnivorous (algae, pellets, flakes, vegetables, frozen foods)
• Extremely hardy

Water requirements (important):
• Juveniles: freshwater → brackish
• Adults: brackish to marine recommended
• Long-term freshwater usually causes health problems

Aquarium notes:
• Needs a large tank (125+ gallons as adult)
• Strong filtration required
• Prefers rocks, driftwood, and open swimming space
• Best kept with other large brackish fish

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
