Overview:

A rare, dark-colored axolotl variant with striking bright gills. Known for its unique look and hardy nature compared to some pure lines.

Tank Requirements:

• 20+ gallons (per axolotl)
• Temp: 60–68°F (cool water is critical)
• pH: 6.5–7.5
• Bare bottom or fine sand (no gravel)

Diet:

Carnivorous—earthworms, pellets, bloodworms, and other meaty foods.

Behavior:

Peaceful and slow-moving. Best kept alone or with similar-sized axolotls. Will eat anything that fits in its mouth.

Pro Tips:

• Keep water cool—heat is the #1 killer
• Avoid strong flow
• No sharp decor (very delicate skin)
