The High Fin Banded Shark, sometimes called the High Fin Loach, is a striking freshwater fish native to rivers in China. Recognized for its tall dorsal fin and bold black-and-silver banding, this species is popular in large aquariums. Despite the name “shark,” it is actually a member of the carp family, not a true shark.

Diet: Omnivore

Origin: China

Adult Size: 12–16 inches (can grow larger in the wild)

They feed on high-quality pellets, flakes, and fresh or frozen foods like bloodworms, shrimp, and vegetables. A varied diet helps maintain their bold coloration and overall health.

Important Note: This species grows quickly and requires a very large tank; it is not suitable for small aquariums.
