Description

Green Scat (also called Spotted Scat) is a hardy, fast-growing fish best known for its round body, dark spots, and greenish-silver coloration.

Quick definition:
• Scientific name: Scatophagus argus
• Juveniles are green/silver with black spots
• Adults often lose spots and become more solid silver/green
• Adult size: 10–15 inches

Key traits:
• Very active, strong swimmer
• Semi-aggressive, especially as it grows
• Omnivorous (algae, flakes, pellets, vegetables, frozen foods)
• Extremely hardy

Water requirements (important):
• Juveniles: freshwater → brackish
• Adults: brackish to full marine recommended
• Long-term freshwater usually leads to health issues

Aquarium notes:
• Needs large tank (125+ gallons as adult)
• Strong filtration required
• Likes rocks, open swimming space, and driftwood
• Best kept with other large brackish fish

We ship on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday via USPS Priority Mail. Once we get your order, we will ship it within 1 to 5 business days. For the safety of the animals, we do not ship aquatic life on Thursday and Friday. We do not want live aquatic animals sitting in USPS warehouse over the weekend. Thank you for your understanding.

Any orders placed before 12:00 PM on Tuesday will be shipped out that same week. orders placed after 12:00 PM on Tuesday will now be processed the following week

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
