Description
The Empire Gudgeon Goby (Hypseleotris compressa) is a small freshwater fish known for its striking coloration and elegant fins. Males often display bright yellow, orange, and blue highlights, especially during breeding, making them a very attractive addition to peaceful aquariums.
Native to Australia and Papua New Guinea, these fish prefer calm waters with plants, rocks, and driftwood where they can establish small territories. They are generally peaceful but males may display mild territorial behavior toward each other.
Empire Gudgeons do best in planted aquariums with gentle filtration and plenty of hiding spots. They are carnivorous and enjoy small live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
