Demasoni Cichlid

The Pseudotropheus demasoni, commonly called the Demasoni Cichlid, is a striking Mbuna species native to Lake Malawi. It is famous for its bold dark blue and black vertical stripes, making it one of the most visually striking African cichlids despite its small size.

Demasoni are very active and territorial Mbuna, often recommended for experienced cichlid keepers. They do best in larger groups, which helps spread aggression and create a more stable social hierarchy.

Care Requirements

• Temperament: Aggressive for its size
• Diet: Herbivore/omnivore (spirulina, algae-based foods, cichlid pellets)
• Temperature: 75–80°F
• pH: 7.8–8.6
• Minimum Tank Size: 40–55 gallons
• Adult Size: 2.5–3 inches

Tank Setup

• Plenty of rocks and caves
• Strong filtration and water movement
• Keep in groups of 8–12 or more to reduce aggression

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
