The Maylandia callainos, commonly known as the Cobalt Blue Zebra Cichlid, is a striking Mbuna species native to Lake Malawi. This fish is recognized for its solid cobalt-blue body and streamlined shape, making it a standout in African cichlid aquariums.

Cobalt Blue Zebras are hardy and active fish that thrive in rocky aquariums with plenty of hiding spots. Like most Mbuna, they are territorial and do best in tanks with other African cichlids that can tolerate their semi-aggressive behavior.

• Diet: Omnivore (spirulina flakes, cichlid pellets, vegetable matter)
• Temperature: 75–80°F
• pH: 7.8–8.6
• Minimum Tank Size: 55 gallons
• Adult Size: 4–5 inches

• Plenty of rocks and caves
• Strong filtration and water flow
• Best kept with other Mbuna from Lake Malawi
