Overview:

A rare and striking nano predator with bold black striping over deep red/orange tones. Similar to Scarlet Badis but more dramatic in pattern and coloration.

Temperament: Peaceful (but territorial with males)

Size: ~1 inch

Lifespan: 3–5 years

Tank Requirements:

Minimum 5–10 gallons

Heavily planted tank with lots of cover

Low flow, stable conditions

Best kept as a single male or 1 male with multiple females

pH: 6.0–7.5

Soft to moderate hardness

Diet:

Carnivore—primarily live or frozen foods (baby brine shrimp, daphnia, microworms)

Often refuses dry food

Tank Mates:

Best in species-only or with very small peaceful fish (ember tetras, chili rasboras)

Avoid aggressive or fast fish

Notes:

Males display intense coloration when competing or breeding

Can be shy—benefits from leaf litter and natural-style setups
