Overview:
Axolotls are fully aquatic salamanders famous for their feathery external gills and cute “smiling” face. They come in multiple color morphs (leucistic, wild type, albino, copper, etc.) and are a unique centerpiece species.
Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Peaceful, best kept alone or with same size
Size: 8–12 inches
Lifespan: 10–15 years
Tank Requirements:
Minimum 20 gallons (30+ preferred). Use fine sand or bare bottom—no gravel (impaction risk). Provide hides, low flow, and stable, cool water.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 60–68°F (critical—heat is dangerous)
pH: 6.5–7.5
Low flow, high oxygen
Diet:
Carnivore. Earthworms are best staple; also feed axolotl pellets, bloodworms, blackworms, and occasional shrimp pieces.
Tank Mates:
Best kept alone. Fish may nip gills or be eaten. Other axolotls must be similar size to avoid biting.
Behavior Notes:
Slow-moving, bottom-dwelling, and opportunistic feeders. They “snap” at food and may accidentally nip tank mates.
Breeding:
Possible in captivity with temperature cycling and proper conditioning.

We ship on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday via USPS Priority Mail. Once we get your order, we will ship it within 1 to 5 business days. For the safety of the animals, we do not ship aquatic life on Thursday and Friday. We do not want live aquatic animals sitting in USPS warehouse over the weekend. Thank you for your understanding.
Any orders placed before 12:00 PM on Tuesday will be shipped out that same week. orders placed after 12:00 PM on Tuesday will now be processed the following week

Guaranteed to arrive alive you have one hour of delivery to report any death. You must take a picture while the fish is dead in the bag before it’s opened.
