Scientific Name: Multiple (e.g., Aphyosemion, Nothobranchius, Fundulopanchax)

Origin: Africa, South America, Asia

Size: 1–3 inches

Temperament: Peaceful

Tank Size: 5–20+ gallons (species dependent)

Water: pH 6.0–7.5, 72–78°F

Setup: Heavily planted with a tight lid (they jump)

Behavior: Top-dwellers, very colorful and active. Males can be aggressive toward each other—best kept 1 male with females.

Diet: Carnivore – prefers live/frozen foods (brine shrimp, daphnia, bloodworms); may take small pellets

Tank Mates: Best in species tanks or with small peaceful fish (no fin nippers)

Breeding:Two types:

• Egg scatterers (plants/substrate)

• Annual species (eggs laid in peat, require drying period)

Care Level: Easy–Moderate (some species more delicate)
