Freshwater lobsters (commonly crayfish) are bold, eye-catching invertebrates known for their large claws, bright colors, and interactive behavior. They are hardy but highly territorial, making them best suited for species-only setups or carefully selected tank mates.

Best kept alone. Will catch and eat slow fish, shrimp, and snails. Fast mid/upper-level fish may work but are not guaranteed safe.
Behavior:
Nocturnal and very active. Will dig, rearrange décor, and may uproot plants. Molts regularly—provide hiding spaces during this vulnerable time.
Breeding:
Eggs are carried under the female’s tail. Breeding is common in the right conditions, but young must be separated to avoid cannibalism.
