Goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Goldfish are one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish, known for their bright colors, long flowing fins in fancy varieties, and hardy nature. They are peaceful, social, and suitable for community or species-only tanks.

Care Requirements:

  • Tank size: Minimum 20–30 gallons for a single fish, plus 10 gallons per additional fish.
  • Temperature: 65–75°F (18–24°C)
  • pH: 6.5–7.5
  • Diet: Omnivorous; eats high-quality goldfish pellets, flakes, and occasional vegetables or live/frozen foods.
  • Behavior: Peaceful and slow-moving; some fancy varieties may be less agile than standard goldfish.
